Creatures from the invisible spirit realm brought to life through imagination, constructed from found natural and scrap materials.
a little insight into my process..
Diary entry excerpt:
‘ When I was little, I used to speak to Mother Nature in secret. Between us, we would ask for the wind to sway left and right, to pick up the leaves from the ground or poke the bed of flowers. I knew the flowers were waving at me. I would smile and say thank you to Mother Nature. I’d whisper little things under my breath in hopes that the fairies were listening. My dogs, Soda, Calico and Ruby knew the fairies; they must have, because when I looked deep into their eyes, I saw magic. ‘
As I’ve grown, this feeling has never faded. I believe that magic is all around us, hiding between the cracks of the floorboards, pockets and tree trunks, beneath stones, in eddies of water, embers of fire.
Each creature is sculpted from natural materials. All skeletal remains have been sourced sustainably, always and only from animals that have naturally reached the end of their life cycle. When I come across butterflies and exoskeletons on bush walks, I will carefully inspect for signs of life before carrying them home to begin the process of forming new creatures. I hold a deep appreciation and respect for the lives these animals once carried, and for the lands on which they were found. I feel incredibly lucky we humans get to share this earth with such beautifully intricate, generous, life-giving creatures and plants, and I carry these feelings of love into my practice. These fairies are an expression of my inner world, spirit and soul.

Creatures such as faeries, sprites and nymphs are intrinsically tied to our physical world and are very real spiritual beings. They reside within a plane made of lighter matter that sits just outside our ordinary perception.
These sculptures are a glimpse into this mysterious, elusive, spiritual and magical world I have dipped into since a child. Each creature has its own name, element, personality and purpose.
